What: This two hour workshop will dissect several yoga poses from an anatomical standpoint. In this workshop Lauren will explore various yoga postures and introduce ways one can really maximize the strength and the stretch with each pose in their practice. This workshop is catered to all levels. If you are new to the practice it is a great way to learn proper alignment from the start. For experienced yogis who feel they are at a “standstill” in their practice, this workshop will help one discover new ways to maximize their edge and expand their shape. Be open to learning about muscles you never knew you had! And how to use them properly, efficiently and openly in your asana practice! Be prepared to sweat and move and also be able to ask questions!

To go to a 11am Jivamukti Yoga class or stay in bed. I contemplated for about 10 minutes. What do I want what do I need? Conclusion. Bed. But I didn’t go back to sleep. Opening the windows allowing the warm yet cool Spring air seep into the apartment. Purging out the stuffiness. I wrap myself up with the meditative sounds of Saturday morning New York City traffic. Feels good to just do absolutely nothing for a moment. We have to be doing things all the time. Physically…mentally…But when we truly take that extra moment, sometimes we just need to rest.

Spring Back! The universe works in your favor. Its truly amazing, once I truly let go, things began to align. The job, the roommate, the apartment. Its all working out! The same goes for my asana practice. When you’re really in a pose, like really in it, you feel it. It doesn’t feel foreign anymore. Everything aligns. It feels right. Matching the breath, with the movement, things begin to take shape, transform. Clicks. That aaahhh ha! moment. Love it!

my first new york

I arrived to NYC on Thursday, January 6th listening to Billy Joel’s New York State of Mind playing in my Mom’s 5 series. It was planned. I made her a mixed cd which also included Alicia Keys, Empire State of Mind. Classic. I was so excited, driving along the Hudson. I arrived at my cousin’s brownstone in the West Village. He graciously offered a one bedroom apartment on the forth floor for me to stay in while I get myself acclimated and score a job(s).

While unpacking, it hit me. I’ve left everything I’ve ever known. Wow. Twenty six years of my existence. To embark on this new adventure. The fear of the unknown sinks in. That voice kicks in. What am I going to do for work? Where am I going to live? Who am I going to live with? Is this the right choice? Did I make the right decision? Is this the answer? Will I ever stop searching? Do I think too much? I loose it. Cried. For an hour. All the emotions bubbled up to the surface and exploded! It felt good to let it out. But geez. Intense. I know we don’t need to have all the answers right now. I know this move is going to challenge me in ways I never fathomed. I’m ready. I have to be ready. To embrace anything and everything that comes up. This is life. Once you stop really living, you die…

3 Day Rejuvenating Yoga Retreat
